Visa Extension Guide Sydney
Most visas can be extended. In most situations, the Department of Immigration and Citizenship prefers to assist over the phone or online. Alternatively, you can visit their Sydney city office. Their details are at the bottom of this section.
eVisitor
An eVisitor is not designed to allow repeated extended stays in Australia. If you want to spend long periods in Australia for tourism or business purposes, you may want to consider applying for a Tourist visa. You should allow at least two weeks before your eVisitor expires to apply for a different type of visa

Tourist Visa
Extension is possible. This is assessed on a case by case basis. In most cases another three months will be granted if the initial visa is for three months. Sponsored Family Visitor Visa
Extension is not possible. You may be eligible to apply for another visa once you leave Australia.

Skilled Independent Visa
An extension is not required for this visa as this visa grants indefinite stay and unlimited entry. Although after five years if you wish to travel outside Australia you will need to change your visa.

Skilled Sponsored Visa

Skilled Regional Sponsored Visa
This visa is for three years. You can apply for permanent residence after two years stay and once you have completed at least 12 months of work.

Skilled Recognised Graduate Visa
This visa is for 18 months and unlimited entries. This visa cannot be extended, however you can apply for a permanent visa as a holder of this visa.

You can renew this visa every four years provided you continue to meet the requirements.

Student Visa
