Bookstores can be found in area of Houston. There are many large chains and smaller ones that offer excellent customer service. There are also many second hand book stores and dollar book stores in which books cost around a dollar.

Barnes and Noble is the most popular national retail book chain offering a huge selection of new books, DVD’s, CD’s and magazines. Most locations also have a Starbuck’s Coffee inside which allows you to sip a coffee while previewing a book (encouraged by B&N staff) or convenient for meeting friends for book discussions. Most stores are also equipped with AT&T Wifi. There are many locations all throughout Houston at main streets and in shopping centers.

Libraries

Libraries are popular for Houstonians who don’t have private access to Internet or love to read but want to save money on books as well as students and retirees.

The best chance for having access to foreign literature is at the Fondren Library, part of Rice University, which is open to the general public at certain hours.
