Parents' Participation in Education

The majority of schools in Singapore encourage parents to be involved in their child’s education and this can be achieved through a number of means:

Attendance at parent’s evenings, orientation events and conferences. Meeting with your child’s teacher on a regular basis is crucial for understanding how they are assimilating into the school environment and progressing with their studies.
Read school newsletters and become involved in activities where relevant. Many schools distribute a regular newsletter to parents and this contains information about what is happening in the school. This will be a valuable source of information for parents who wish to get involved with school activities and events, such as assemblies, sports days, fetes and fairs.
Parent workshops. If you have an area of expertise many schools in Singapore would be delighted to host a parent workshop. Get in touch with the school to offer your services.
Volunteer. Schools are always looking for volunteers to help with activities and classroom sessions.
