Babysitters in Singapore

Babysitters are less common in Singapore than in other locales, as most families with small children hire live-in domestic helpers. Note that this has changed a bit over the years, especially since Covid struck. Finding live-in helpers become really hard to find. Increasingly – families in Singapore, including many expats, or foreign visitors coming in for work or social purposes – need their household chores and child minding attended to by alternatives.

Nevertheless, high school students are often very keen to have part-time work, and some expatriate social organizations keep lists of interested students available for babysitting. See the ‘Networking’ section for contact information for expatriate social organizations and clubs.

Furthermore, many of the maid and part-time domestic help agencies offer babysitting services. If you have yet to make friends with other parents and are looking for referrals consider posting a message on the Motherhood noticeboard.

01 A service of SingPost, vPost, allows users to set up overseas mailing addresses in the US, Europe, and Japan so that buyers can purchase from there.
02 When searching for rental properties find listings that are not co-broked. You will be charged commission on co-broked properties.
03 When searching for property look for any nearby spaces that may be built on. There is a lot of development taking place and building work is noisy.
04 Despite what many websites say, quarantine is no longer required for the majority of domestic animals arriving in Singapore.
05 If take Permanent Residency in Singapore and have, or are considering having, children. Be aware that male children may have to do national service.
