Question: I am a self-employed artist living and working since 2001 as a permanent resident of The Netherlands. I was told by my accountant here that all my world income must be filed and paid here in The Netherlands. Therefore I have not filed U.S. taxes since 2001. Am I required to file U.S. taxes? If ‘yes’ will I be penalized for having failed to do so?
Thank you.
