Posted by Sean
While the Expat manual currently indicates I can maintain my US bank account while living permanently in Australia, I was contacted by Charles Schwab today and was informed OFAC made a recent policy change, and people living in Australia are no longer able to retain a US bank account. Has anyone heard of this? I get Iran or Syria, but Australia? My adviser recommended HSBC or Citibank, but they both require huge account balances ($200K AUD). Any suggestions???
