Relocation Contract Limitations

Even the most perfect relocation contract has limitations and there are a number of things outside of your control that may impact the extent to which the obligations contained within the contract are enforceable and can be fulfilled. You should bear in mind the following:

  • A company wide merger or sale, may render your relocation contract null and void, this may especially be the case in the event the company’s owners are of a different nationality than the ones with whom you signed your contract.
  • The relationship that the country with whom you are employed enjoys with the host country may impact the way in which contract clauses are viewed and enforced.
  • Occasionally any terms and conditions you negotiate will be invalid if they conflict with the local law of the host.
